The Associate Actuary will assist the VP and Directors in managing
the profitability of selected programs, working independently on
most assignments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:* Perform rate level analyses for selected
programs, including extraction and manipulation of data and
preparation of exhibits. Develop and communicate specific rate
recommendations based on indications and other relevant factors.
Evaluate various rate options, and price program enhancements.*
Complete regulatory rate filings and other materials including rate
transmittal forms and related exhibits, Rates and Rules manuals and
rate charts. Prepare responses to DOI inquiries/ disapprovals
pertaining to rate filings.* Participate in dealer management
process for selected programs, including development of
recommendations for remedial action.* Participate in periodic GAAP
and Statutory reserve analyses including data summarization and
input, factor selection and exhibit preparation.* Periodically
prepare underwriting results presentations for senior management.*
Manage, mentor, train and develop assigned support staff as
assigned.
COMMUNICATIONS:Contact with others is extensive. Internal contacts
include personnel at all levels in the Division's Sales, Marketing,
Compliance/Regulatory Administration, Product Development, and
Finance and Operations departments. External contacts may include
clients, third-party administrators or regulators.
Role does not require supervision experience but could include
supervision of an actuarial intern.Professional Specifications and
Requirements:
For actuarial positions within the Actuarial Program, we aim to
develop employees both through completion of actuarial examination
and through practical experience. We support employees through the
completion of the actuarial examination and credentialing process
via competitive paid study time and full coverage of exam expenses
(SOA exam fees and exam preparation material). We also provide
well-rounded experience via rotations across job functions and
product lines. Eligibility for certain aspects of the Actuarial
Program vary by position and are dependent upon the employee
staying within good standing with the Actuarial Program.
