What You Will Do:

The Billing Follow Up Specialist manages patient account receivables in a responsible and timely manner. This includes contacting insurance and other payers by phone to check on claim status, inputting the claim status by electronic means and documenting in the EHR as required following policies and procedures. The position will handle pertinent follow up correspondence and be effective in providing excellent customer service with insurance companies and patients. The individual must have a broad knowledge of hospital billing requirements. This knowledge will include claims processing, insurance reimbursement, coverage issues and some knowledge of diagnostic coding. Also, the individual must fully understand the functionality of the hospital billing process as it related to payors such as BCBS of Alabama, all BCBS out of state plans, Commercial insurers, HMO plans, etc. all of which have unique information demands. Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally, in both verbal and written form and the ability to maintain excellent interpersonal skills with the patient population, peers and team members. Maintain an excellent working relationship with all physician offices.

Duties:

• Call insurance company for status in a timely manner and notate accounts.
• Check website for status in a timely manner and notate accounts.
• Bill claims with correct edits/ email coding if necessary
• Follow all policy and procedures required by Medical West
• Follow up on all correspondences in a timely manner.
• Answer emails
• All other duties as assigned.
  
  What You Will Need:
  
  • High School diploma
  • Two years of experience in hospital billing and follow up and/or two years or more physician billing and follow-up.
  • Knowledge of coding, CPT4 and ICD10
  • Knowledge of revenue codes
  • Due to our contractual requirements, to be eligible for this role, you must be fully COVID-19 vaccinated at time of hire.
    
    What Would be Nice to Have:
    
    • Knowledge of SSI Billing and Meditech
    • UB-04 and E.O.B. knowledge is a plus.
