Responsibilities: Brasfield & Gorrie has a challenging opportunity available for a Senior Corporate Accountant in Birmingham, Alabama. The Senior Corporate Accountant will play a key role in the monthly accounting and reporting of the company---s financial statements. Responsibilities and Essential Duties include the following: Participate in the preparation, analysis and reporting of the company---s monthly and annual financial statements Manage accounting of the company---s diverse investment portfolio consisting of marketable securities and alternative investments, working closely with the company---s finance team and investment advisors Help drive the department---s long-term goals of incorporating new technologies and automation tools into our everyday job responsibilities Review and oversee the company---s consolidation and subsidiary accounting Provide support for the annual external audit Assist in various areas of the monthly accounting close and reconciliation process Learn and serve as back-up for ERP system maintenance as it relates to accounting and financial reporting Improve and modernize the documentation of the Accounting department---s processes and controls Assist in the development and maintenance of the company---s financial reporting packages Learn and serve as back-up for other positions within the Accounting department Assist with special projects Education - Skills - Knowledge - Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting required Minimum of 2 years in public accounting or minimum of 5 years in corporate accounting CPA and/or CCIFP preferred Technology expertise including strong proficiency in Excel required Demonstrate a never-ending desire for continuous improvement Construction or investment accounting experience is a positive Interest in growing into a leadership role within the department Excellent communication skills Highly organized and detail oriented Ability to multi-task and problem solve while meeting competing deadlines Knowledge of existing company software products, including JD Edwards --- E-1, Workday Adaptive and Crystal reporting is a positive Experience in Alteryx, Smartsheet, Power BI and/or with RPA is a positive The above description covers the principal duties and responsibilities of the job.
