Job DetailsLevelExperiencedJob LocationAL - Birmingham, ALPosition TypeFull TimeEducation LevelHigh SchoolTravel PercentageNoneJob ShiftDayJob CategoryHealth CareDescriptionMedical Receptionists are a vital part of the overall care process that patients receive while visiting our practice.Duties include, but are not limited to:Greeting patients as they arrive at the desk, scheduling and/or re-scheduling appointments for Physicians as appropriate, scheduling tests and referral visits as needed, registering patients and handling new patient set-up in the Practice Management System, verifying insurance eligibility and benefits of patients, verifying and updating patient account demographics as needed, addressing envelopes, managing daily mail, checking faxes/printers and delivering documents as needed, completing patient reminder phone calls if needed, entering/verifying lab orders into computer system upon checkout of the patient, collecting co-pays, balancing daily deposits, and other duties as assigned by Management.Our current opening provides coverage in Internal Medicine Physician offices as well as several Specialties. Volume varies between Suites. Receptionists also assist in covering the Switchboard and/or Medical Records (Scanning/Indexing). Work hours will vary between Suites, can be as early as 7:00AM and as late as 6:00PM, but will typically be 8:00AM until 5:00PM. Work days are Monday through Friday.QualificationsSouthview requires a High School Diploma/GED for this position. Previous Medical Receptionist experience in a fast-paced Medical office strongly preferred. Due to the high volume usage of Electronic Health Records and Electronic Practice Management systems, it is required that Medical Receptionists have a strong background utilizing computers in a working environment. Previous experience scheduling appointments and verifying insurance benefits is highly desirable.
