Assistant/Associate Professor, Music Education Samford University School of the Arts Division of Music Assistant/Associate Professor, MusicEducation Position Summary Samford University's Division of Music invites applicantsinterested in serving in a Christian university environment toapply for the position of area coordinator and professor of musiceducation at the rank of assistant or associate professor (9-monthtenure-track at either rank) to begin in August of 2019. Academicrank and salary are dependent upon qualifications andexperience. Responsibilities Duties will include coordinating the music education area;overseeing curricular details of music education; supervisingstudent teachers; teaching undergraduate general-elementary andgraduate music education courses; maintaining collaborativerelationships with public schools and other community partners;participating in the recruitment and retention of outstanding musiceducation students at all levels; and performing other dutiesdependent upon candidate qualifications and university need. Thesuccessful candidate will participate fully in departmental anduniversity service and maintain an active scholarly agenda. Required Qualifications Qualified candidates will hold an earned doctorate in musiceducation. The candidate should have successful P-12 teachingexperience and superior administrative skills. A commitment toacademic excellence and the ability to work effectively withfaculty, students, and colleagues is expected Preferred Qualifications College teaching experience is preferred, as is experienceguiding students through edTPA (Educative Teacher PerformanceAssessment).
