The SMT Process Engineer is a part of the Process Engineering team
at Huntsville Factory. This position is responsible for setting up
and optimization for FR-4, flex and rigid flex assemblies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Design and validate solder
paste stencils (aperture strategy, step-downs/ups, coatings) to
achieve first-pass yield targets. Develop and maintain process
documentation: print parameters, placement programs, reflow
recipes, AOI criteria, work instructions. Lead DFM/DFX reviews with
customers on flex stack-ups, stiffeners, coverlay, PSA details, and
bend radii. Troubleshoot defects (tombstoning, HIP, voiding,
opens/shorts, pad cratering) using SPC and DOE. Support NPI, ECNs,
and transfers; mentor operators/techs; partner with QA on control
plans and PPAPs. Experience and Educational Requirements: A BS
degree in Engineering preferred or 5 years SMT process engineering
in EMS/ODM/OEM environment. Proven stencil design ownership (Gerber
review, aperture reductions, step stencils). Hands-on experience
with flex/rigid-flex builds (coverlay, stiffeners, connectors, bend
rules). Strong reflow profiling skills for polyimide/flex
assemblies. Proficiency with at least one in each area: Printers
(MPM), Placers (Panasonic), Inspection (Omron), CAD/DFM
(Altium/Allegro CAM350/Valor). Nice to Have: Experience with
nano-coatings, step stencils, fine pitch (=0.4 mm BGA/WLCSP).
Voiding control for QFN thermal pads on flex or hybrid substrates.
IPC-A-610 / IPC-6013 familiarity; IATF 16949 / AS9100 exposure.
Conformal coat/mask design for flexing zones. Minimum Skills,
Knowledge & Ability Requirements: Communication skills: Ability to
read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals,
professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental
regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and
procedure manuals. Further, ability to effectively present
information and respond to questions from groups of managers and
customers. Advanced math skills: Ability to work with mathematical
concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and
fundamentals of plan and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability
to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and
proportions to practical situations. Reasoning ability: Solve
practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in
situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a
variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or
schedule form. Ability to work well in a team environment. Work
