2023 AT 11:59 P.M.Manages organizational wellness programs intended
to improve the health and well-being of employees and their
families with an emphasis on health promotion, employee
productivity and prevention of illness. Collaborates with key
stakeholders across the company and community to create health
promotion opportunities related to all dimensions of employee
health and well-being.
- Assists with conducting ongoing industry and company needs
assessment to determine corporate motivation, readiness and program
goals for the implementation of a health promotion and Wellness
Program for Birmingham and the subsidiaries.
- Assists with leading the wellness efforts of planning, design,
implementation, management, delivery and evaluation of all
programs, campaigns and services.
- Assists with leading wellness team training and development,
ongoing wellness training for individual and group health
coaching/education sessions, and team leader and ambassador
communications.
- Oversees the entry, management, and analytical processes of all
data.
- Schedules key deliverables related to the wellness program
planning, implementation and program evaluation.
- Assists with conducting cost benefit analysis based on key
metrics of performance and provides the results to Management.
- Negotiates with vendors of Wellness program services.
- Oversees and coordinates delivery and evaluation of onsite
physical therapy and rehabilitation, and injury prevention
programs.
- Oversees and coordinates delivery of annual flu shot
campaign.
- Plans, oversees and delivers bi-annual health fair for
employees, families and retirees.
- Actively participates on the Cafeteria Committee.
- Serves as a collaborative resource for all health, safety,
wellness, benefits, training initiatives for Birmingham and the
subsidiaries.
- Contracts and manages the work direction, schedule, and
development of the wellness team, volunteers, student interns,
program champions and ambassadors.
- Assists with establishing a Wellness Program budget and uses it
to function effectively.
- Pursues continuing personal improvement and development as it
relates to job knowledge and performance. Reads technical journals
and attends job related seminars.
- Participates in committee memberships. Participates in quality
improvement and continuous improvement activity. Represents the
company in public speaking engagements, writing articles, and
serving on leadership task forces. Assures that the highest
standards of research and business practices are maintained.
- Manages personnel and makes decisions in a manner consistent

- Keeps work area clean and orderly. Knows safety rules that
apply to the safety of others and to personal safety. Reports
malfunction of equipment to proper authority. Performs other work
as instructed by supervision.MINIMUM QUALIFIFCATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Health Education, Public Health,
Nutrition, Nursing, Exercise Physiology, Health Psychology,
Physical Education or other related Heath/Education Field from an
accredited college or university. Proof of degree required. A
transcript or diploma would be acceptable and must be provided.
Consideration will be given to candidates with other bachelor's
degrees, from an accredited four-year college or university, who
also have a master's degree in health-related fields.
- Registration, licensure and/or certification in health, fitness
or wellness-related area.
- Must have working and functional knowledge of: Physical
Fitness, Tobacco Control, Nutrition Education, Stress Management
and Resilience, Weight Control, Back Care, Injury Prevention, as
well as Diabetes Education, Chronic Disease Management, and
Physical Therapy.
- Must have working knowledge of Health Assessments, Biometric
Health Screening, Risk Factor Identification & Reduction, and
Theories of Health Behavior. Must demonstrate ability to align
program criteria and resources with current and changing health
standards set by national professional associations such as The
American Medical Association, American Heart Association, National
Cholesterol Education Program, and the American Academy of
Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Must demonstrate an example of healthy living, i.e., physical
fitness and good nutrition.
- Must have high energy level and project a positive, dynamic
approach to good health.
- Must exhibit a minimum of two years successful experience in
worksite health promotion.
- Must exhibit record of punctuality and good attendance.
- Must possess interpersonal skills and ability to interact with
persons with different socio-economic, cultural, and educational
backgrounds.
- Must exhibit excellent communication and customer service
skills including the ability to motivate others.
- Must be proficient in public speaking.
- Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of
the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office Programs such as
Word, Power Point, Publisher and Excel.
- Must have working knowledge of wellness and health claim data
evaluation, analysis, and reporting.
- Must exhibit knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations
surrounding bona-fide wellness programs.
- Must exhibit the ability to manage multiple tasks with
attention to detail.
- Must exhibit the ability to work with confidential information
and maintain confidentiality in all aspects of participant and
employer information.
- Must exhibit the ability to work collaboratively on
cross-functional teams.
- Must exhibit a working knowledge of the use of wellness data
analytics platforms. Must coordinate annual data archival from
eligibility, absentee, wellness biometrics and all benefit provider
sources. Must be proficient at adapting programs to online
delivery. Must be able to work with internal stakeholders to
promote full adoption and support of platform.
- Must have ability to work with all AMERICAN subsidiaries to
assist the Director Well-Being & Employee Benefits in the
development, implementation and evaluation of their wellness
efforts, and to serve as a consultant on administrative processes,
legal implications, alternative standards, disclaimers and
incentives.PREFERRED QUALIFIFCATIONS
- Ability to administrate wellness data analytics platform,
maintain current functionality, develop and implement additional
utility to full potential.
- Ability to direct analytical reporting activities to validate
program success and efficiency.
- Exhibit a master's degree in Health Education, Public Health,
Nutrition, Nursing, Exercise Physiology, Health Psychology,
Physical Education or other related Heath/Education Field from an
accredited college or university. Proof of degree required. A
transcript or diploma would be acceptable and must be
provided.
- Exhibit two years of prior management experience in a health
care clinic or facility.ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS
- Sitting at desk for prolonged periods of time while using
phone, reading, writing policies and procedures, reviewing data,
planning, etc.
- Standing at copier, FAX machine, printer, filing cabinet, while
observing jobs in plant, etc.
- Walking on various surfaces (concrete, gravel, tile, etc.) to
plant, Human Resources building, office to office, clinic, etc.,
required.
- Climbing stairs to get to offices in plant required.
- Stooping, kneeling, and crouching required to observe jobs in
plant and perform filing.
- Overhead reach used to access overhead cabinets and files.
- Forward reach required to perform various desk activities -
paperwork, data entry, telephone, etc.
- Bended reach to access lower file and desk drawers.
- Handling binders, phone, stapler, hole punch, file folders,
boxes, etc., required.
- Use of fingers required to use digital phone, gem clips, staple
puller, keyboard, write, file, do paperwork, etc.
