Job Description:
General Description of Duties: Directs, supervises and
coordinates the overall clinical operations of the surgeons support
staff.Supervision Received: Reports directly to the CEO. The
physicians will also receive an opportunity to evaluate the
Operations Manager.Supervision Exercised: Supervises the clinical
staff of the surgeons and other departments as needed.Typical
Physical Demands: Requires prolonged sitting or standing, some
bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination
and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier,
telephone, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of
hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate with
patients and internal staff.Typical Working Conditions: Normal
office environment. Occasional evening or weekend work.Education
Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in management or business
preferred. Clinical certification a plus.Experience: Three to five
years of operational and staff management experience. Clinical
experience is a plus.Principal Duties:1. Provide guidance and
counseling to clinical staff to ensure successful operations2.
Assist physicians as needed in the clinic3. Manage clinical
staffing work and leave hours to ensure efficient coverage of
clinical area4. Establishes policies and procedures relating to
patient flow, customer service, and compliance with regulations
pertaining to the clinical area.5. At the direction of the
physician(s) develop protocols and procedures relating to patient
care6. Ensures policies and protocols are reviewed on a regular
basis and are updated as necessary7. Is knowledgeable regarding
HIPAA, OSHA, and other governmental regulations and ensures
implementation and that clinical staff follow appropriate
procedures8. Assists with developing and implementing the
government quality and reporting programs9. Provides ongoing,
documented training of all staff on policies and procedures10.
Carry out and follow through with all personnel policies, including
dress code, attendance, discipline, and training of clinical
staff11. Assists in addressing patient complaints12. Develops and
presents information for specific goals and objectives of the
clinical areas13. Develops internal controls to assure timely
response to practice and patient needs14. Ensures telephone
messages and patient requests are responded to using established
and appropriate protocol and in an appropriate time frame. Works to
improve customer service15. Conducts regular meetings with
staff.16. Sets goals, reviews clinical staff performance, discusses
problems, and develops solutions with CEO17. Ensures each clinical
position has a job description and specific performance goals
