The Assistant Sales Manager manages a group of estimators tasked with providing quotes to specifications and to design parameters as required. This person is responsible for accuracy of cost, pricing, quote distribution, review of quote status for order entry after being sent to customer, accountable for planning and coordinating, marketing efforts, directing aggressive sales, and growth of sale into new markets.-- The Assistant Sales Manager coordinates policies as it pertains to procedures as they apply to product, training of new estimators; and assists in customer service as it pertains to field issues or any customer need. This is to be accomplished in a manner which increases the overall success of Valmont's Sign Structure Division.
Essential Functions:

  • Manage estimators to provide accurate pricing for projects
  • Develop and maintain competitive awareness and accurate market share to the extent information is available--
  • Timely and accurate reporting of competitive field information, attitudes, and trends of the sign structure market with directions for new product development, and geographical expansion
  • Handle delicate customer sales using sound judgment in his/her decisions in order to gain customer satisfaction while protecting the Company interest
  • Maintain appropriate professional competencies, certifications, licenses, etc., necessary to perform job.
  • Make management aware of any training needs you have, consulting management if you are being asked to perform work for which you are not trained and/or are not comfortable doing because of potential risk implications.
    • This position reports into the General/Sales Manager for Sign StructuresRequired Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
      • Preferred Bachelor's Degree with 6+ year's relevant experience or Associates Degree with 8+ year's relevant experience or 10+ years of relevant experience
      • A valid U.S. driver's license
      • The ability to work independently and build relationships
      • The ability to schedule daily workload without supervision or direction
      • The ability to work quickly and efficiently with employees, suppliers, vendors
      • The ability to organize and manage multiple, simultaneous priorities
      • Strong leadership, problem solving and planning skills
      • Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines
      • Knowledge of the material, costs, techniques and processes used within the Sales area
      • Judgment and decision making skills while comparing relative cost and benefit potential
      • Deductive reasoning ability to formulate answers to specific questions that make sense
      • The ability to motivate, develop and direct people, identifying the best person for each task at hand
      • Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional resultsHighly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:
        • Bachelor's degree in engineering fieldWorking Environment and Physical Efforts:
          This position requires planning and organizing on the part of the Assistant Sales Manager to work leaner reducing unnecessary cost and expenses.
          Work is typically performed in an office setting. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time.-- The employee frequently is required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel and type. Incumbent must be able to climb up and down stairs when elevators are not available. The employee is occasionally required to stand for extended periods. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Incumbent must have a valid US driver's license and be willing to drive to the different venues.--
