For more information about Alabama Clinical Schools, please visit our website at www.alabamaclinicalschools.comWe are pleased to announce the following available full-time position at Alabama Clinical Schools and seek a dynamic and talented:RN Nurse:Ability to perform and document nursing assessments on admission within 24 hours and ongoing throughout admission, following restraint procedures, resident medical and trauma concerns, AIMS and other related assessments and appropriate development of nursing interventions/treatment plan and /or medical record documentation. Exhibits independent critical decision making and time management skills to assess, plan, prioritize and implement appropriate care of residents while maintaining a professional demeanor. Exhibits strong responsive communications skills with management, co-workers, residents, vendors, families/legal guardians and medical staff to reflect a positive demeanor and coordinate appropriate safe care of residents Provide medication management in an accurate and timely manner for all residential and foster care residents including knowledge of medications utilized and processes of ordering, reordering, transcribing orders, obtaining consents, administration of medications and required documentation. Ability to process lab request and obtain appropriate lab specimens following policy and procedures of Alabama Clinical Schools. Involvement in the Performance Improvement Plan of ACS (both departmental and facility level) with involvement in treatment planning, inter and intradepartmental meetings, and documentation. Supports and exhibits nursing practice within the legal limitations and requirements of the Alabama Board of Nursing and within the policies and procedures of Alabama Clinical Schools. Demonstrates knowledge of medications utilized including usage, dosages, side effects and appropriate nursing intervention. Maximizes opportunities for quality care of residents. Transcribes and implements physical orders accurately and in a timely manner, obtaining consents as needed. Demonstrates ability to write 90 day medication updates for physician review. Maintains safe therapeutic milieu in conjunction with other members of the therapeutic treatment team. Responds to identified patient and family needs. Encourages family involvement in patient care. Participates in treatment plan reviews and other scheduled meetings as requested. Contributes and participates in Performance Improvement. Obtains and documents permission for treatment as needed. If unable to obtain consent, communicates with next shift status of consents. Documents accurately utilizing the nursing process in progress notes, treatment plan, plan of care, admission documents, and other forms including information regarding assessment, nursing interventions, communication, education and discharge needs of resident and family. Develops individualized treatment plans with measurable goals, education plan of resident and family and discharge planning which reflect understanding of the nursing process. Updates treatment plans, as needed, reflecting new problems, resolution of problems, and revisions in nursing interventions, accurately and timely in the progress notes. Accurately documents vital signs, weights, heights and nail care monthly or as ordered. Documents incidents following policy and procedures. Accurately documents medication orders and medications administration on Medication Administration Record. Daily reviews medication stock, sending for refills as needed and verifies medications delivered by pharmacy. Weekly rewrites physician orders as needed for medication refills. Verifies monthly MAR sheets as printed by pharmacy and places in MAR. Incorporates facility mission statement in all aspects of work. Responds to facilities' changing nursing needs. Conducts self with a professional demeanor at all times. Willingly accepts additional responsibilities outside routine job functions as facility needs. Participates in orientation of new employees by serving as an educator, preceptor and role model. Seeks opportunities for continued education and profession growth. Abides with confidentiality policy and is aware of surroundings at all times. Attends and satisfactory completes required in-services. Displays appropriate knowledge of child and adolescent client population. Understands the difference between age appropriate behaviors vs pathological behaviors of the adolescent populations 9-19 years of age. Administers vaccinations and TB skin tests as requested following Policy/Procedures developed in accordance with the Vaccine Free for Children Program and/or ACS. The work environment for this position is a residential facility setting. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee will be exposed to clients who may ask inappropriate personal questions, display socially unacceptable personal behaviors, use profanity and sexually explicit phrases, make insulting remarks or threats regarding appearance, age, sex or race, and exhibit defiance, dishonesty and assaultive or self-destructive behaviors. The Employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, and may be subject to occasional local travel as required by facility needs. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Qualifications Education:Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.Experience:Prefer one (1) year experience as a Registered Nurse. Experience in psychiatric and/or adolescent nursing preferred. Knowledge of current nursing procedures, the nursing process, medications and their correct administration.License/Certification:Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alabama. Current CPR Certification required.Skills:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Physical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally life and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally life and/or move a minimum of 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision, color and depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee may occasionally be required to physically restrain clients, using authorized restraint procedures as a last resort for protection of client and staff. Worker is required to function around behavioral health patients and is periodically exposed to infectious illnesses/diseases. Worker must be able to read and write in English.Other:Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Executive Officer or the Director of Nursing Services.
