Job Description Job Description Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1 years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A dynamic opportunity is available for a registered nurse with stepdown or ICU experience to support a newly opening high acuity progressive care unit (PCU) that will transition into an intensive care unit (ICU) by the end of 2026. This contract role is based in Greensboro, NC, with an anticipated start between late September and early October 2026. Candidates with 2 years of ICU or PCU experience are preferred, especially those with cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) background. Responsibilities include managing a high acuity patient population with complex cardiac conditions such as congestive heart failure, cardiomyopathy, shock, STEMI/NSTEMI, arrhythmias, post-cardiac surgeries including open-heart and transplants, and various vascular surgeries. The role involves interpreting EKGs, performing wound care and dressing changes, managing chest tubes, tracheostomies, multiple drips (including pressors and sedation), and supporting patients on bipap/cpap/hi-flow and mechanical support devices such as Swanz and Impella. The nurse will also provide care to vented patients once the PCU transitions to ICU level care. Qualifications and Desired Experience: Current RN license with BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certification Minimum of 2 years ICU or PCU experience; CVICU preferred Proficient in advanced cardiac care interventions and monitoring Experience with cardiac devices (LVAD, post-cardiac transplant) is highly valued, training available Ability to manage complex patients requiring defibrillation, cardioversion, sheath management, and multi-drug drips Shift Schedule: Orientation included with two shifts of on-unit training Working in a team-supported environment with 24/7 hospitalist, intensivist, respiratory therapy, and resident physician coverage Location:Greensboro, NC, offers a vibrant community with rich history and diverse cultural attractions.
