Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 04/06/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview - Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs - Hours: 36 hrs/wk - Start Date: Apr 6, 2026 - Length: 13 weeks - Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical ICU (MICU) night shift position in Birmingham, AL, requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience and proficiency in ventilator and pressor management. Details - 12-bed Medical ICU (MICU) at an acute care hospital in Birmingham, AL - Patient population includes respiratory failure, diabetic emergencies, renal failure, and ventilator-dependent patients - Patient ratio is 2:1 - Night shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM - 36 hours per week - Weekend requirement: at least every 3rd weekend, potentially more depending on staffing - No on-call requirements - Float requirement: all ICUs and ED for ICU holds - EMR: Epic Requirements - Active AL RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand - Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA-issued only; American Red Cross certifications are not accepted) - Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required - Proficiency in pressor management and ventilator management required - CRRT experience preferred - Medical ICU experience preferred - Sedation management experience preferred Additional Information - Provide critical care nursing to a complex medical ICU patient population - SSN and DOB are required for consideration - Navy scrubs required - Fingernail overlays of any kind, including gel polish, are not permitted - Certifications must not be expired or expiring within 30 days of the start date American Traveler Job ID P-678995.
