Registered Nurse - Stepdown Unit Location: Greensboro, NC Job Type: Contract This opportunity offers skilled registered nurses the chance to provide specialized care in a stepdown unit focused on intermediate care patients, particularly those experiencing neurological and cardiac conditions. The position requires a dedicated RN equipped to manage stroke and cardiac patients, functioning within a collaborative and well-supported environment. Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Intermediate Care Stroke Unit, including those diagnosed with stroke, heart failure, sepsis, syncope, acute kidney injury, and other related conditions Administer and titrate hemodynamic drips such as Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, Neo, Nitro, and Amio Monitor telemetry rhythms and recognize neuro changes using NIHSS certification and escalate appropriately Assist with patient assessments, vital signs, ambulation, feeding, and blood glucose monitoring in coordination with CNAs Utilize EMR systems (Encompass/EPIC) for documentation and medication management using Omnicello and Baxter IV pumps Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including charge nurses, phlebotomists, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists Qualifications / Desired Experience: Current RN license with at least 1 year of experience in intermediate or stepdown nursing BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Strong knowledge of telemetry monitoring and cardiovascular nursing interventions Ability to manage complex patients with neuro and cardiac diagnoses in fast-paced environments Comfort with specialized equipment including Philips MX-40 monitors, wound vacs, and specialty beds Shift Details: Unit staffing ratio: RN 1:4, LPN 1:4, CNA 1:9-12 12-hour shifts with support from a 24/7 respiratory therapy and hospitalist team Location Overview: Greensboro, NC is a vibrant city known for its rich history, diverse culture, and welcoming community atmosphere.
