About the Role: The Medical Laboratory Technologist - PRN plays
a critical role in the healthcare system by performing complex
laboratory tests that aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and
prevention of diseases. This position involves analyzing patient
specimens with precision and accuracy to provide timely and
reliable results to healthcare providers. The technologist ensures
compliance with all regulatory standards and maintains quality
control throughout all testing procedures. Working on a PRN (pro re
nata) basis, the role requires flexibility to support fluctuating
workloads and provide coverage as needed. Ultimately, the Medical
Laboratory Technologist contributes to improved patient outcomes by
delivering essential laboratory data that informs clinical
decisions. Minimum Qualifications: * Certification as a Medical
Laboratory Technologist (MLT) or equivalent from an accredited
certifying body such as ASCP or AMT. * Valid state licensure if
required by the state of employment. * Demonstrated knowledge of
laboratory procedures, instrumentation, and quality control
standards. * Ability to work independently and manage multiple
tasks in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications: *
Experience working in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting. *
Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and
electronic medical records (EMR). * Strong communication skills to
effectively collaborate with healthcare teams * Responsibilities: *
Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on blood, tissue,
and other bodily fluids using automated and manual techniques. *
Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and
equipment to ensure accurate test results. * Adhere to established
protocols and quality control procedures to maintain compliance
with regulatory agencies such as CLIA and CAP. * Document and
report test results accurately and promptly to the appropriate
healthcare professionals. * Assist in troubleshooting technical
issues and participate in continuous quality improvement
initiatives. * Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment by
following safety guidelines and infection control procedures. *
Provide support and coverage during peak periods, staff absences,
or emergencies as part of the PRN staffing model. Skills: The
Medical Laboratory Technologist utilizes technical skills daily to
perform and interpret complex laboratory tests accurately, ensuring
high-quality patient care. Analytical skills are essential for
troubleshooting equipment issues and validating test results.
Attention to detail is critical when following protocols and
documenting findings to maintain compliance with regulatory
standards. Communication skills enable effective collaboration with
healthcare providers and laboratory staff to support patient
diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, adaptability and time
management skills are important to efficiently handle variable
