Job Description:
Southern Foodservice Management is seeking a talented *Executive
Chef* who is looking for a great opportunity to showcase their

experience for all events at the Harbert Center.Southern
Foodservice is the exclusive caterer for the Harbert Center. The
Harbert Center is the home to more than 20 of Birmingham's top
civic clubs, associations, and nonprofit organizations, which meet
here on a regular basis. On nights and weekends, The Harbert Center
is transformed into a unique venue for social events, fundraisers,
and weddings. Exquisite food, downtown location, convenient
parking, and state-of-the-art event facilities provide the ideal
atmosphere for productive business meetings and memorable social
gatherings.*Job Summary*Oversees the daily operation of the kitchen
to ensure the highest quality food products are being prepared for
all events. Directly supervises and trains kitchen and service
personnel on all related culinary activities and ambassadors on
serving techniques. Reports directly to the Project Manager and
assists with adherence to month and annual budgets.*Essential
Functions** Oversees all event food preperation for quality
assurance of meal presentation and portion control.* Selects
recipes, prepares and coordinates all meals and coordinates prep
for the following day's menu.* Develops menus with clients with a
focus on presentation, technique, and quality standards. Plans,
modifies and develops all menus.* Performs a pre-meal meeting with
culinary and service Team to review detail of daily menu.* Ensures
an adequate number of culinary and service team members are
scheduled each shift and ensures absences are covered.* Estimates
food consumption and prepares all food purchases. Monitors and
maintains a proper inventory level.* Assists with the adherence to
budget compliance for daily food costs and assists with end of
month reporting.* Provides training for all culinary and service
staff.* Maintains kitchen cleanliness and food preparation
according to state and local health department code requirements.*
Ensures all kitchen equipment is in working order and kept clean at
all times.* Oversees the proper inventory, storage and use of
cleaning chemicals.* Keeps waste to a minimum by utilizing food
storage and food recycling techniques.*Qualifications and Skills**
Culinary degree or equivalent training* 2+ years' experience as a
Chef in Event Dining or related environment* ServSafe
Certification* Excellent organizational and communications skills*
Dedicated to food quality and presentation with a high level of
creativity* Full understanding of proper food handling and
sanitation standards* Flexible schedule required*Southern
