I. JOB SUMMARY - Major goals and objectives.
Located in Birmingham, Alabama, is the MEREDITH FOOD STUDIOS, a
state-of-the-art facility featuring 28 test kitchens, 13 photo
studios, a prop and styling studio, an outdoor grill station and an
expansive showcase kitchen and tasting room for demonstrations and
events. Powered by a talented team of test kitchen professionals,
stylists, and photographers, the Meredith Food Studios is the
country s premier creative hub, producing thousands of world-class
recipes, images, and related content annually for Meredith s print,
digital, and social platforms.
The Recipe Tester/Developer creates and tests recipes for multiple
Meredith brands and reports directly to the Kitchen Director.
II. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Collaborate with the team and brand client in advance of recipe
development in pre-pro calls or meetings to discuss creative
solutions and ensure all parties are clear on expectations.
Prepare and monitoR grocery/shopping lists to ensure the proper
items are purchased for all recipe development and testing,
anticipating the need to order specialty or hard-to-find items.
Recipe Development and Testing: Develop, test, annotate, and
deliver final recipes and digital photos of each assigned story.
Complete nutritional data for health-oriented assignments. Pitch
story and recipe ideas as needed. Present developed and tested
recipes at tastings and attend tastings as assigned.
Share best-practices with your fellow stylists and recipe
developers. Stay abreast of current cooking trends, food styling
trends, health issues, competitive food magazines and websites as
well as cookbooks to ensure that the brands recipes are of the
highest possible standards.
III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS - All must be met
to be considered.
B.S. or B.A., a culinary degree or extensive professional
restaurant or test kitchen experience.
3-5 years recipe development experience for lifestyle brands.
