Within the Defense Sector, the Kinetic Effects Business Area at
Leidos currently has an opening for a talented Guided Munitions
Senior Embedded Engineer to work in our Huntsville office. This is
an exciting opportunity to use your experience to help develop
software for tactical strike, sensors, CUAS, and UAS solutions.
?This position focuses on the development of robust, innovative
software frameworks, as well as the fielding, support, and
maintenance of software products. Software products range from
analysis tools/simulations, mission planning software, and
components of mission-critical systems. Primary Responsibilities.
Conceptual design across the full stack of software for airborne
systems, embedded software architectural design, code
implementation, team peer review, unit testing, cohesive
integration of loosely coupled software modules within subsystems
and across distributed networks, use of DevOps and CI/CD pipelines,
and development of software tools, harnesses, and infrastructures
to support a fully integrated solution. Leading and contributing to
the design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of
software enhancements as well as new software-intensive systems and
products. Frequent and direct communication with customers, end
users, internal stakeholders, and team members. Applying
established software engineering principles, standards, and best
practices throughout the full software development life cycle
(SDLC) including, but not limited to: (a) software requirements
analysis, (b) hardware compatibility analysis, and (c) development
of tools and software products that support infrastructure,
platform design and system maintenance. Recommending and
implementing new technologies, tools and standards to enhance
software engineering practices, which align to organizational
goals. Leading and mentoring other team members, contributing to
the delivery of complex projects, all the while aligning with
technical strategy and execution plans. Basic Qualifications.
Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science,
Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical
Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent technical degree with an
overall GPA of 3.0 or higher. Must have 10-15 years of relevant
technical experience. Must have demonstrated expertise in software
development across the full lifecycle, including architecture,
implementation, testing, and deployment. Must have proven
experience leading technical teams and driving high-impact projects
to successful completion. Must have proficiency in one or more
programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Java, or C#. Must have
strong experience in C++ software development. Must have strong
knowledge of modern software development practices including Agile,
DevOps, CI/CD, and test automation. Must have expertise in software
architecture, system design, and integration of complex systems.
Must have hands-on experience with debugging, performance tuning,
and system troubleshooting. Must have strong analytical and
problem-solving skills with the ability to address highly complex
technical challenges. Must have excellent verbal and written
communication skills, with the ability to engage with executive
stakeholders and cross-functional teams. Must have experience with
version control systems (e.g., Git), build tools, and modern
development environments. Must be a resident of North Alabama or
willing to relocate to the Huntsville-North Alabama area. This
position requires the ability to have a Secret clearance which
requires US Citizenship. Preferred Qualifications. Experience
developing large-scale, distributed, or embedded systems
Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker,
Kubernetes) Background in developing tools and platforms that
support infrastructure and systems engineering Prior experience
working in highly regulated or mission-critical environments (e.g.,
aerospace or defense sectors) Security Clearance Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a

above. Pay Range: Pay Range $131,300.00 - $237,350.00 The Leidos
pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a
guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered

skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with
market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other
