A privately-owned clinical lab in Birmingham, AL is seeking a full-time, permanent Histology Supervisor for the night shift (Monday-Friday 9:00pm-5:30am) . ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Directly supervise and coordinates the histology team, including performing routine duties of histology including embedding, microtome, specials stains and related tasks Manage the employee hiring process (interview prospective employees, develop performance expectations, identify essential functions and knowledge, skills and abilities) Manage employee performance and new employee orientation process Monitor and evaluate lab operations, workflow, and employees Properly embed, section, and stain all types of tissue Maintain quality control records on all equipment Other duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or GED Associate’s degree or equivalent preferred ASCP (HT) certification preferred At least 5 years of Histotech experience Some supervisory experience
