PROGRAM DIRECTOR II - DIRECTOR INNOVATE BIRMINGHAM - ( T178842 )

ABOUT INNOVATE BIRMINGHAM

OVERVIEW OF INNOVATE BIRMINGHAM

Innovate Birmingham’s coalition of community and employer partners came together in 2016 following the award of the US Department of Labor’s America’s Promise grant. The Innovate Birmingham Workforce partnership is woven together by a shared belief: talent is distributed equally in our community but opportunity is not. The goal of the partnership is to solve two problems with a unified approach:

(1) Meet the demand of an IT workforce growing at the second-fastest pace in the country; (2) harness the potential of under- and unemployed residents in Central Alabama. Our programs establish a sustainable pipeline of talent in Birmingham to fuel inclusive innovation for local employers, meeting IT workforce demand for the region by offering demand-driven education, training and employment opportunities for area residents who are disconnected from the labor market:

MISSION

We overcome Alabama’s tech talent scarcity by providing inclusive, demand-driven training and holistic support for aspiring tech professionals. Innovate Birmingham meets the talent needs of regional employers by harnessing the potential of local talent. We do this by providing holistic support and career development for aspiring tech professionals, and producing programs that align with local industry demands.

VISION

Equitable economic prosperity in our tech ecosystem.

CORE VALUES

Inclusive Collaboration

We believe that diverse perspectives make us stronger. Each of our students, staff, and partners have expertise to offer, so we want their voices heard. We value clear and direct communication that fosters effective collaboration. We value honesty- we speak up to address challenges as well as celebrate successes. Our word is our bond- we do what we say we will do.

Students First

We believe in the talent and capability of our students.

We empower our students with opportunities that enable our city to prosper.

We prioritize student needs over other demands.

We are a reliable and robust community of support for our students.

Be Authentic

We are honest about what we know and what we don’t know.

We share our ideas and perspectives and take ownership of finding solutions.

We ask questions when we are uncertain or disagree.

We are transparent with one another and honest when we fail.

Results Not Rhetoric

We move the needle.

We take ownership and initiative to use data to identify problems and propose solutions.

We are realistic about the challenges that arise and are empowered to solve problems.

We are committed to innovating: we have a fail-fast, fail-safe environment.
