What is it that we do at Colonial Pipeline Company?

Colonial Pipeline is the largest refined products pipeline in the United States, transporting more than 100 million gallons or 2.5 million barrels per day. Colonial transports various grades of gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, jet fuel, and fuels for the U.S. military through a pipeline system. Colonial transports approximately 45 percent of all fuel consumed on the East Coast, providing refined products to more than 50 million Americans.

About the Senior Operator Position

A Senior Operator is reasonable for operating pipeline facilities and perform line operations to transport refined petroleum products. As a Senior Operator, you will monitor and control pipeline pressures and flow rates by remotely starting and stopping pumping units. You are someone who thrive in team environments, understanding the importance of clear and consistent communication for safe operations. Daily responsibilities include responding to alarms caused by normal, abnormal and emergency situations and understanding how to safely proceed with operations.

What You Get to Do:

* Independently perform daily inventories, regulatory checklists, inspections, pig launches and receipt, inventory, minor maintenance, equipment certifications and labeling and other facility, ROW or pipeline operations activities. * Monitors and Support local operations including but not limited to: * May train lower level operators in specialized processes as needed. * Check unstaffed facilities to insure safe operations. * Perform facility and equipment maintenance. * Coordinate operations activity with other facility employees. * May investigate right of way encroachment in order to maintain system integrity. * Advanced Operations: Blending, Local Delivery, Airport Operations, Block Valve Inspections, and Read Rectifiers.

* Assist the Lead Operator, as needed, with daily functions such as regulatory compliance, internal audits, project work, operational improvements, or monitoring contractor activities.

What You Bring to the Table:

* High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) from an accredited education intuition. Will consider a combination of experience and/or education. * Live within a 60-minute commute of the work location. * Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record to drive company and personal vehicles to perform required tasks. * Advanced knowledge in mechanical, hydraulic, mathematic, and some electrical skills are necessary for ongoing station operation responsibilities. * Advanced in HMI, station software systems, alarm management, and batch scheduling. * Certifications and/or Licensures: Forklift training/licensing, Hazardous Waste Operations, Emergency Response (Hazwoper) training, Operator Qualification. * Ability to work 8-hour and/or 12-hour rotating shifts at all hours including, holidays, and/or weekends as required; subject to call-out and occasional overtime. * Obsession with safety and continually elevating standards through personal integrity, respect, innovation, and teamwork. * Self-motivated, have phenomenal work ethic and looking for the right company to support your growth.

Physical Requirements & Work Conditions:

Work indoors and outdoors at all hours in all weather conditions in close proximity to refined petroleum products. Physical mobility to sit, stand, reach, pull, push and bend. Digital dexterity for operation of calculator, PC keyboard and mouse. Hearing in the normal range. Lift up to 50 pounds. Speak at a normal voice range. Climb stairs, vertical ladders up to 10 ft. and tank steps as high as 60 ft. without assistance. Color recognition for SCADA indications and product colors. Normal visual acuity for reading computer screens, gauges and other measuring devices. Physical strength to open and close manually operated valves and pressure vessel (trap, strainers, and filter) closures. Operate various types of tools and equipment safely and efficiently. May be required to use the following tools in the course of their duties: PC's, calculator, phone, 2 way radio, emergency equipment, hand tools, probe bar, personal protective equipment, vehicle, line locator.

This is a Department of Transportation (DOT) covered job and is subject to all applicable regulatory requirements such as testing for the presence of prohibited drugs and alcohol as defined under 49 CFR Part 199 as a condition of employment, to include pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable cause/suspicion and fit for duty testing.

Colonial adheres to PHMSA's (Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration) Control Room Management Rule, and as such, incumbents in this role must live within 60 minutes (90 minutes for previously grandfathered employees) from their designated work location and notify management of any changes to their home address while in this role.
