Automation Specialist
JASPER LUMBER COMPANY, LLC- JASPER, AL
Jasper Lumber Company, LLC, a producer of quality southern yellow pine lumber is currently seeking a Control Systems Specialist. -This position is responsible for developing and maintaining industrial automation systems and related software and hardware systems that will support the successful productivity of the Company.
The Control Systems Specialist reports directly to the Technical Director. -ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - - - - - - - - -Responsible for supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting all mill process equipment, control systems, optimization, and robotics - - - - - - - - -Create, modify, and troubleshoot PLC projects using ladder logic, structured text, and sequential function charts - - - - - - - - -Design and modify HMI programs using FactoryTalk View SE or ME - - - - - - - - -Install, program, troubleshoot, and maintain variable frequency drives - - - - - - - - -Maintain add/change documentation of program changes and offline backups - - - - - - - - -Monitoring and maintaining office systems, Microsoft Windows servers, MS Windows domain, ensuring system reliability and security - - - - - - - - -Implements conceptual plans for new information system, control system, and electric power systems which utilize state of the art equipment and techniques to enhance Company operation - - - - - - - - -Assist Technical Director in the research, development, design, specification, and selection requirements associated with operation software and control systems- ensuring optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness - - - - - - - - -Provides technical assistance associated with programming, and installation and maintenance of system software and hardware. - - - - - - - - -Provide expertise as to automation and controls for capital projects, working closely with project engineers and third-party contractors - - - - - - - - -Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays if needed
-Education and/or Experience - - - - - - - - -Bachelor's degree preferred, minimum of an associate's degree in Engineering, Mechatronics or in a field supporting technology of manufacturing control and automation
Skills - - - - - - - - - -Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, results-oriented - - - - - - - - -Exceptional Interpersonal/Communication skills- able to work effectively in a team environment while having the ability to promote and execute ideas - - - - - - - - -Self-motivated, highly organized with the ability to multi-task, being detailed oriented

• Continual ability to learn and a desire to teach others
• Self-motivated and ability to show initiative while working in a high demand environment
• Strong technical background with a fundamental understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
• Proficient in PLC programming, electronics, control devices, robotics, and vision systems
• Working knowledge of drafting and reading electrical diagrams
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to quickly solve issues in a fast-paced environment
• Autocad experience preferred
