Job Description:

Summary of Position: The Facilities Assistant assists the Facility Manager with all building maintenance and set up needs. The assistant is expected to perform preventative maintenance, oversee meeting and facility rental needs, and address emergency facility needs. This is a part-time position of approximately 20 hours a week. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Tracks, orders, and stocks all custodial supplies.
  • Assists in the planning, inspecting and coordinating of activities concerned with the operation, repair, maintenance, and construction of facilities equipment, buildings, and grounds to minimize interruption and improve efficiency.
  • Assists in the maintenance, improvements and education of procedures for use in the event of accidents, fires, and all other emergencies.
  • Assists in the training of other facilities maintenance staff as needed.
  • Perform basic services in specialized building systems such as mechanical, electrical, carpentry, painting, plumbing, HVAC, and vehicle fleet.
  • Assists with meeting and rental needs including the setup of chairs, tables, projectors, phones, and any other needs.
  • Assists in the maintenance of buildings and daily operations to stay in compliance with all fire safety regulations. Physical Demands and Work Environment:
    • Must be able to climb ladders up to 30', work in confined spaces, required to lift up to 70lbs unassisted.
    • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, and walk for long periods of time.
    • Required to work in any type of weather. Required Qualifications:
      • High school diploma or equivalent.
      • At least 1 year of experience in a construction trade, building/facility maintenance.
      • Possess a valid driver's license. Preferred Qualifications:
        • Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and landscape maintenance.
        • Demonstrates the ability to work from drawings, diagrams, sketches and verbal instructions.
        • Ability to operate a variety of tools.
        • Ability to work alone or as a team member.
        • Ability to work varying shifts including weekends, nights, and holiday needs. Some on-call duty may be required.
