Summary/Objective The Assistant Production Manager is responsible for supporting the Theatrical Stage Production Manager, with managing the technical operations of events for the BJCC Concert Hall & Theater, supervising the audio, lighting, video, and physical production of events in the Concert Hall & Theater. Essential Duties/Responsibilities Demonstrates understanding and full performance ability in each of the following:Coordinate and supervise the technical/physical event set up/tear downs. Collaborate with internal/external team members, promoters, and vendors to accommodate all audio/visual/scenery set up and tear downs day of the event as required to ensure event success. Oversee and ensure the efficiency and safety of all technical activity for the event.Supervise set up and lay out of all physical and electrical equipment, scenery, rigging, electrical, lighting, and pin rail systems.Supervise curtain call and backstage event coordination. Coordinate with the Front of House management to ensure the client (artist, tour, promoter, or entity) is ready for public entry.Ability to maintain venue equipment and repair lighting instruments and assist with preventative maintenance. Supervises rigging, drapery, drops, legs, borders, spotlights, and all other stage equipment. Operate/program audio and lighting consoles. Proficient in Dante Networking System.Demonstrates exceptional internal and external customer relations. Ensures event and customer needs are met in a professional timely manner.Properly notifies appropriate team members immediately of any customer complaints, issues, feedback, ideas, or questions. Assisting to maintain proper inventory management of all Production technical equipment.Ability to work quickly to identify potential problems, troubleshoot issues, and implement resolution to problem to ensure event success. Assist with maintaining a schedule to test and perform equipment maintenance and replacement of internal sound, video, lighting equipment. Perform other duties as assigned. Work Environment This position may have a moderate to extensive stress level associated with dealing with crowds of public visitors. The environment is mainly indoors, however position may be required to work outdoors and exposed to the elements (heat, rain, etc.). Potential hazards involving high places, working under structures such as lighting equipment and beams. Physical DemandsPosition requires lifting, climbing, carrying, bending, stooping, squatting and kneeling for extended periods of time. Extensive walking and or standing. Ability to lift up to 50-pound items with or without assistance, while maintaining good balance. Must be flexible enough to reach above shoulder level and be able to push and pull for extended periods of time. Ability to climb ladders. Ability to work in high places such as catwalks. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position; hours of work must be flexible and varied to meet the demands of the events of the facility. Must be able to work extended and/or irregular hours including day, nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed. Required Education and ExperienceMinimum five (5) years related knowledge, experience and skills in Theatre and Performance Venue settings. High School Diploma or G.E.D. Trade or technical school training in related discipline preferred.Certification of membership in the International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage employees highly desirable. Valid State of Alabama Driver License. Additional Eligibility QualificationsKnowledgeable of the practices, procedures, methods of audio/visual and stage management in a large, modern, computerized facility. Knowledgeable of the practices, care, methods, tools, materials, and equipment related to large event and stage management.Knowledge and workings of a Double and Single Purchase Fly Rail System. Knowledge of the occupational hazards and all necessary safety precautions.Capable of working unsupervised after being instructed on tasks.Ability to understand oral and written instructions in English.Ability to work under pressure.Ability to be supervised and work cooperatively with co-workers and provide good internal and external customer service.Ability to prioritize work assignments. Must be able to anticipate problems and implement immediate corrective action.Capable of performing technical maintenance and repair on complex technical equipment.
